Let’s get to the point: you’ve decided to manually claim your local listings. In this post you’ll find the top 20 listings that all businesses should claim.
A few important notes before you get started:
- Set aside 1-3 hours to claim each listing
- Have tax documents available
- Be prepared to be near your business phone – many require phone verification
- Some of these listings cost money
- There WILL be a hard upsell for many of these. If you manage to avoid the extras, expect to pay around $500/year for your listings. If you take the upsell, it will be significantly more.

Online Listings In Order of Importance
1) Google My Business
Where: business.google.com
Verification method: Phone, text, email, mail
2) Bing Places
Where: www.bing.com/local/
Verification method: It depends. If you’ve claimed your website in Bing Webmasters, verification if often immediate. Otherwise you’ll need to use phone, text, mail, or email.
3) Apple Maps
Where: mapsconnect.apple.com/
Verification method: Phone
4) Infogroup
Where: www.expressupdate.com/search
Verification method: Phone
5) Axicom
Verification method: Document upload. Federal tax license letter, sales tax license, DBA license, or fictitious name registration.
6) Factual
Where: Not possible to claim for individual companies. You’ll have to work with an agency or Yext to claim this one.
7) Localeze
Where: neustarlocaleze.biz
Verification method: Phone, and there’s a fee to list. It will cost you $297/year.
8) Dun & Bradstreet
Where: dandb.com
Verification method: Phone, and D&B makes it complex. Set aside a few hours to claim this one.
9) Facebook
Where: facebook.com
Verification method: Online. Claiming a business with Facebook is relatively easy if you are the business owner.
10) Yelp
Where: biz.yelp.com
Verification method: Phone. Be ready for a hard upsell!
11) Yellow Pages
Where: yellowpages.com
Verification method: Phone. Be ready for the upsell with Yellow Pages also. For what it’s worth, we haven’t had a client see ROI when using a paid version of Yellow Pages.
12) FourSquare
Where: business.foursquare.com/claim
Verification method: Phone or email
13) CityGrid (CitySearch)
Where: citysearch.com
Verification method: Phone
14) Yahoo Local
Where: Free through Yext. Save some steps and go here – yext.com/pl/yahoo-claims/free-claim-checkout

15) MapQuest
Where: business.mapquest.com/products/business-listing
Verification method: Online. Note – this one will cost you. Expect to spend $150/yr (paid in advance) for their basic listing.
16) DexKnows

Verification method: Phone. Be prepared for the hard upsell here! Adding a listing to DexKnows will also claim your Superpages listing (see below).
17) Superpages
Where: www.superpages.com
Verification method: Online. Watch out for the hard upsell here, too.
18) EZLocal
