Website Design in Frederick, Maryland
You have a lot of options when it comes to your website design or redesign. There has been a recent increase in do it yourself options. It used to be that these DIY options were confusing and had only limited options. We're seeing that change. So your first option is to design and develop your site on your own.
If you don't have the time for a DIY website, or prefer to have your website designed and developed by local web design professionals, we are here to help.
Prior to contacting a website design company such as 270net, take some time to consider scope and budget.
Website Design Scope
- How many pages (roughly) will be required?(e.g. Home, Contact, Services, Photos)
- What information needs to be conveyed on the site?
- Most importantly, what is the purpose of the site and what does it need
to do? For example, is it purely informational - in essence an online
brochure - or does it need to do something such as collect data, run
credit cards, save event registrations or display ongoing event photos?
Website Budget
We design custom websites that are unique to your needs. Our sites require the skills of our web designers, IT professionals and programmer support. We recommend a starting budget of about $2,400. If this is going to break the bank, consider a DIY template site, a blog or a community web page.
Blogs and community portals offer very nice options for a few
hundred bucks, or even for free. Our website designers recommend Blogger, WordPress or Frederick.com - and we can help you set up and maintain these simple sites. You can always upgrade to a custom site later on.
Once you've considered your scope and budget and have decided to go the custom website route, give us a call. These are 270net's website design steps.
Web Design Step 1: Initial Consultation & Scoping
First we'll review your scope and discuss any recommendations we
may have for you to consider. Often this takes place over the
phone, although we're happy to meet with you in person if you prefer.
We'll fill out a design form for the Web Design Team together and answer
any questions you may have. At the end of this conversation we
typically have a very good understanding of the project and enough information
to draw a detailed site map. You will be asigned a primary contact
for the project movnig forward.
Web Design Step 2: Proposal
Once we understand the basic function and purpose of the website,
we will prepare and submit a detailed, fixed-price proposal. The
cost will be based on our estimate of the hours required to build a
professional, search engine friendly web site that will exceed your
expectations. Your contact will be available to answer any
questions you have about the website proposal and will modify it as
necessary to incorporate new information.
Web Design Step 3: Concept Development & Approval
Based on the info gathered at the scoping meeting, our Web Design
Team will develop graphical concepts for your web site. These
are static images (not yet working html) that show different color
schemes, design layouts, and navigation styles. Our designers
will be available to discuss the concepts. You can pick one
you like or combine elements from multiple concepts. It's
important to us that we arrive at a look and feel that you love.
You can also make changes to the concepts - we typically allow for
three revision cycles per concept. Once a concept has been
revised and approved we'll be finished with the concept step.
Web Design Step 4: Prototype Development
The next step is to make a working website. We convert
the graphical concept into html and build the pages. The result
is a web site with all pages, navigation and animation functional.
The level of content completion at this point depends on how much
of it has been received and all database functionality may not be
complete. But the basic site is essentially complete.
We'll send you a link so you can review the prototype. Per
your feedback we'll pick up any last minute adjustments, and we're
off to finish it.
Web Design Step 5: Site Completion & Launch
By this time, there are no surprises. We've met, looked,
and talked enough about the website so that everyone knows what
the final product will be. We finish the site, get your final
approval and arrange for transfer of the site to the hosting provider.
If we had already agreed that 270net Technologies would host the
site (more about hosting), it's an extremely
simple matter because by now we've already taken care of all the
domain and email stuff. Your site should be up and running
the same day you give it the final approval.
